Located approximately 23 km south-east of Entebbe, Ngamba Island is one of the prime fishing locations on Lake Victoria. Seated on almost 100acres of forested land – home to about 50 orphaned chimpanzees rescued from the illegal pet and bushmeat trade, Ngamba is well-placed and surrounded by the gigantic lake Victoria with a surface area of 68,800 km² and a Length of about 337 km² – making it world’s second-largest freshwater lake by surface area after Lake Superior in North America – Ngamba Island is a magnificent place to go fishing on Lake Victoria.
Fishing on Ngamba Island can either be tailored as a half-day fishing excursion, Full-day Fishing expedition or you could opt to spend longer on this amazing island exploring the underwater creatures on Lake Victoria using your rod and lures. The Half Day trips last about 4 hours on the Lake while the full day trips last 8 hours.
Trolling with lures is the most common method used for fishing on Lak Victoria . All the necessary equipment for Nile perch trolling on the lake is provided, but if anglers wish to bring and use their own tackle, that is fine.

When is the best time to go fishing on Ngamba Island?
While Fishing on Ngamba Island is an all-year-round affair, We recommend planning your fishing safari for the dry months of June to August or December to February. We caution anglers against fishing when the moon is full and in the rainy season months of April, May and November.
