Step by Step Guide to Planning a Private Holiday

Planning a private holiday for yourself or a group can be an exciting experience though it can also seem a little overwhelming at the start. If you are in the early planning stages then it’s useful to consider the following points to get a better idea of what you’re looking for.

  • Where do you want to go?

This part of the process is the most exciting! You’ve got an idea of where you want to go, what you want to see & do, or maybe you know exactly which cities and sights you want to include on your itinerary. If not, grab a guidebook, explore our website which is well furnished with up-to-date practical information on all the destinations; Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya & Tanzania – we are working on adding Zambia & Botswana to the list, or check out TV documentaries for inspiration. Alternatively, ask us for recommendations.

  • How long do you want to be gone?

The duration for which you want to be gone could range from a few days, a week-long tour, or an even longer explorer-style adventure holiday. Depending on how long you have to spend away, we’ll recommend the most suitable itinerary taking into account any need for rest days, acclimatization, or making sure your special day is spent doing something unique or perhaps nothing at all!

  • What do you want to see or do?

Maybe you want to glide over the Masai Mara and celebrate your 50th birthday aboard a hot air balloon, or perhaps you’re organizing a school trip and want to test your students with a challenging hiking experience or get them involved in a volunteer project within local communities, etc. Whatever it may be, let us know and we’ll assist you to put together a seamless itinerary and also make practical suggestions of experiences and activities you could consider adding to your tour itinerary.

  • What is the size of the group?

Our private holidays can range in size from one (01) to any number up from six (06) individuals – we also cater for smaller groups with our Tailor-made holiday service. If you’ve got the group, we’ve got the tour for you and will provide pre-planning advice, transportation and accommodation that suits your group size perfectly. If you’re a smaller group, perhaps you’d like a boutique hotel all to yourself, or if you’re a larger party you may want a big hotel with lots of facilities to cater to individual needs and interests.

  • What is your budget for the holiday?

We’re committed to offering you the best value for money and will do our best to work with the budget you provide. We’ll recommend ways to save money wherever possible and endeavor to select the most suitable services. Looking for Inspiration for your next private Holiday?

We’re experienced in organising private holidays taking travellers to the remotest destinations in Africa. Take a look at some of the remarkably interesting experiences we’ve recommended to our previous clients – you too might fall in love with some of them!

  1. Climbing Kilimanjaro

In recent years we organised quite a few small-group expeditions to Tanzania for both well-seasoned travellers and beginners. After spending a few days exploring the best of Uganda, and its cultural encounters, the group scaled the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro over the course of 6 days on the Rongai route with an experienced climbing team, camping at night and hiking during the day.

The clients were so happy with their trip to Uganda and Tanzania that they organised a second safari with a new group of travellers.

Unique to only three (03) East African Countries: UgandaRwanda & DR. Congo, gorilla trekking is a Must-do adventure experience. All our gorilla trekking Safaris strictly visit either Uganda or Rwanda and not DR. Congo (See: Why we don’t go to DR. Congo).

Mountain gorillas are on the endangered list and are likely to go extinct. However, if you decide to plan and book a gorilla trekking safari, you are directly influencing their existence. The money from the purchase of gorilla permits is reinvested in Gorilla conservation – which gives us hope that their population will eventually thrive again. ( For more information: Gorilla Trekking)

  • Track Chimpanzees (Available for: Uganda, Rwanda & Tanzania)

Chimpanzees are amazing primates to track and see. science reveals that chimpanzees share up to 98.7% of DNA similarity with human beings. They are very intelligent creatures with the capability to use tools for their daily survival just as man does. The only difference between us and them is that they leave in the forests of Kibale, Budongo, Kyambura & Kalinzu in Uganda, Nyumgwe Forest in Rwanda, Gombe Stream National and the far-flung Mahale in Tanzania.
