This trip can be tailored for guests with numerous accessible needs and can also be organised with your own driver/guide.

Limited mobility: A sedan chair is available at an additional cost, porters are able to carry the guests with disabilities to see the primates. Accommodation and rooms on the ground level; Door to door transfers if privately guided.

Wheelchair: A sedan chair is available at an additional cost, porters are able to carry the guests with disabilities to see the primates. Wheelchair-accessible rooms can be booked, wheelchair accessible attractions and restaurants suggested for clients.

Blind or limited vision:  This trip can be tailored for blind guests or with limited vision, particularly with private/driver guides.

11 Days Masai mara and gorillas


Day 01: Arrival into Nairobi


On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by a uniformed Realm Africa Safaris™ representative who will transfer you to your hotel in Nairobi. *All accommodation options mentioned are with 10 -15 Minutes Drive from the Airport).

Overnight: Nairobi | Accommodation: Giraffe manor or The Residence at Karen.

Meals Included: Breakfast.


Day 02: Explore Nairobi


After breakfast; you will embark on a journey to explore the city of Nairobi. you will specifically visit the Karen Blixen Museum, the Giraffe Centre and the David Sheldrick wildlife trust. ( see: Things to see & do in Nairobi).

Overnight: Nairobi | Accommodation: Giraffe manor or The Residence at Karen. | Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.


Day 03: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park


Breakfast: thereafter your guide will transfer you to Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive to get to Lake Nakuru from Nairobi is through a distance of approximately 166kms / 103 mi and takes about 3.5 hours driving.

Optional:  In the afternoon, you may join your guide on an afternoon Game drive through the park. Return to the lodge before sunset for dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Explore Nakuru National Park


Breakfast; thereafter join your guide on a morning game drive with a high chance of spotting Lions, Leopards, Hyenas, jackals and the rare Rhino.  Return to the Lodge for Lunch, afternoon at leisure. You may consider taking on another game drive in the afternoon or simply relax and enjoy relax

Overnight: Lake Nakuru NP.  |  Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge | Sarova Lion Hill, or Flamingo Hill .| Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.


Day 05: Transfer to Masai Mara game reserve


Depart Samburu game reserve and fly into the Northern Masai Mara wildlife corner where you will meet your guide to pick and transfer you to the Mara house – your private accommodation for the next three (03) nights.

Know: The famous Masai Mara Game Reserve is our destination today. Known for its density of animals including the Big Five and 453 species of birds, it is one of the most visited reserves in Africa. This National Reserve’s plains are predominantly open Savannah, interspersed with patches of acacia woodland, and along the Mara River, riparian forest.

Whilst game viewing is excellent in the Mara all year round, the most popular time to visit is in late July into August where over one million Wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of Zebra migrate from the Serengeti. The dramatic river crossings are a gruesome spectacle of survival of the fittest.

Day 06: Explore  Masai Mara


Masai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular Eco-Systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing Eco-System. I am sure you have heard the wildebeest migration is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the things you have to add to your bucket list. This will be the full day explore the Masai Mara, breakfast will be served as early as 0730am, then our cook will pack for you fresh picnic lunch since the whole day will be exploring the Masai Mara famous 7th wonder of the World. This game reserve is Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra, there is also resident wildlife year-round. The Mara’s gentle fertile climate bounded by The Rift offers perhaps the richest stocked reserve set within some 1672 sq km – an unlimited spectacle of wildlife. Located 268 km west of Nairobi, the emphasis here is on the game. Herds of immense Elephants, browse among Lion, Buffalo, Thompson Gazelle, Zebra, and Topi. You may occasionally sight black Rhino. In the Mara River Hippos play and Cross bask on the banks. The annual migration of a million Wildebeest follows the rains north. After exploring the park return to your lodge before sunset for dinner and overnight.

Day 07: Transfer back to Nairobi in time for your flight to Kigali.


Breakfast; and today marks the end of the Kenya leg of your safari. you will drive back to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your flight to Kigali ( Rwanda). The drive from Masai Mara is may last ± 6 hours. Please book your flight to depart later in the evening after 6:00 pm so as to allow ample time for the transfer from Masai mara.

If your budget permits, you may opt to fly from Masai Mara to Wilson airport where we can arrange someone to pick you up and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for onward travel to Kigali.

The following carriers do operate scheduled flights between Nairobi & Masai Mara.

*Charter flights can also be arranged.

*Local flight luggage limit is 15Kgs packed In duffel/soft-sided bags.

Overnight: Kigali City. | Accommodation: The Retreat or Heaven boutique hotel| Meal Plan: Only Breakfast is Included. The rest of the meals are to be paid directly.


Day 08: Kigali tour, and thereafter transfer to Mgahinga National Park.


This morning you will depart your Kigali hotel with all your belongings. You will visit the gisozi genocide memorial site in Kigali city for an insight into the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. After this, you will embark on the drive to the Rwanda – Uganda border of Cyanika. It’s at this border that you will cross into Uganda and drive to Mt. Gahinga Lodge you accommodation for the next two (02) nights.

Overnight: Mt. gahinga. | Accommodation: Mt Gahinga Lodge | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.


Day 09: Gorilla trekking In Mgahinga Gorilla National Park


Breakfast; thereafter confirm that you have all the basics; a lunch box (to be provided by the Lodge), raincoat, good hiking boots, waterproof pants + long-sleeved shirt, a pair of strong garden gloves, repellent, a waterproof daypack to carry all your valuables.

Your guide will thereafter transfer you to the briefing point and also help you out through the registration process. After the briefing by a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger, you will embark on your long-awaited Gorilla trekking experience. Return to the lodge and relax.

Overnight: Mt. gahinga. | Accommodation: Mt Gahinga Lodge | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.


Day 10: Second Gorilla Trek or Golden monkey Tracking 


Today you may go on a second gorilla trek (second Gorilla permit costs USd700 per person and is not included in the tour price but can be arranged at the time of booking your tour).

Alternatively, you may opt to go on a golden Monkey trekking experience. ( Golden Monkey permits cost USD100 per person and includes Park Entrance fees – USD40)

If you are happy with your first trek, you May consider staying back and enjoying the lodge – remember it’s your last night at the Mt. Gahinga lodge.


Day 11: Transfer back to Kigali Airport for Onward travel 


After breakfast, you will check out of your room with all your belongings ready to embark on the drive to Kigali airport. This ±5 hour drive will take you through the rolling hills Of Rwanda’s countryside straight up to the Airport where you will catch your flight back home. We recommend booking your flight for an evening departure so as to all ample time to drive from Mgahinga to Kigali Airport.
