FULL ITINERARY – 10 Days Kenya Safari  for beginners


Saddle-up for an exhilarating eight-night riding Family adventure Holiday through the Masai Mara. Enjoy exceptional wildlife encounters on the back of a horse with outstanding guiding in wonderfully wild locations as you travel between mobile bush camps. Our Offbeat Riding Safaris only use thoroughbred cross horses with English, polo, Wintec, French trekking and Australian stock saddles.


Day 1 – Nairobi

You will either be collected at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or if you have arrived earlier from your Nairobi Hotel and transferred to Wilson Airport for your flight at 10:00 am to Naboisho. It is a beautiful flight passing over the fertile Kikuyu Highlands before reaching the Great Rift Valley.  You will fly across the volcano-studded floor of the Rift before reaching the Loita Hills and Naboisho Airstrip.  You will be met by your guide and there will be an hour’s drive to camp.  We reach our camp in a grove of acacia trees by a small stream at the southern edge of the Loita Plains at Olare Lamun (the rhino salt lick) Lunch will be served and you will have a little time to relax before meeting your horses and setting off on your first gentle evening ride.

Day 02: Transfer to Aberdare 

oday starts your adventure in Kenya! Spend the first two days in the Aberdare National Park, a popular destination among topography enthusiasts. The park is located about 100 miles north of Nairobi and 20km southwest of Nanyuki. The drive from Nairobi takes about three (03) hours.

Lunch & Check-In at your lodge. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 03 – Explore Aberdare National Park

Breakfast, thereafter head out to explore this unique park; Located to the west of Mount Kenya, Aberdare offers indigenous forest, beautiful peaks, vast moorland, and excellent game viewing in the morning and at night over the watering hole. Go in the open savanna in the early mornings because predators are out hunting and there is a bigger possibility of sighting African elephants, bongo antelope, lions, rhinos, and many more.

Day 04 – Transfer Aberdare to Samburu

After breakfast, checkout with all your belongings and transfer to Samburu Game Reserve – probably Kenya’s least visited reserve.

Samburu fords the best opportunity for incredible photography moments – keep your camera close.

Day 05 – Explore Samburu

After breakfast, enjoy a full day in Samburu, a beautiful and game abundant Park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s Zebra, Blue-necked Somali Ostrich, and Reticulated Giraffe. Morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game drives, with a visit to a local Samburu village.

Other optional activities include camel riding, guided nature and bird walks.

Day 06 – Transfer to Lake Nakuru

Depart after breakfast and drive to the floor of The Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park making a brief stop at Nyahururu Thomson Falls. Lunch at your Lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in the park tills Sunset.

Know: Lake Nakuru is famous for the presence of up to two million Flamingos, seasonally feeding on the abundant algae. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. In addition, many species of game can be found in the Park including the introduced Rothschild’s Giraffe, black and White Rhino, Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Lion,  Buffalo, Leopard, Baboon and many species of plains game.

Day 07 – Explore Lake Nakuru park

Breakfast; thereafter go on a game drive with the Park. Return to the lodge for Lunch and afternoon siesta.

The area surrounding the lake is blessed with abundant wildlife and distinct vegetation. It is also one of the best places in Kenya to watch large flocks of Lesser Pink Flamingos, the smallest species of flamingo. As you go around the lake, you can spot a white rhino or a dozen of them having out together. Lions, leopards, hippos, zebras and Rothschild giraffes can also be found here. There is an abundance of wildlife in the park that you will surely lose count of what’s been spotted.

Day 08: Transfer to Masai Mara

Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast in the morning and drive further along the floor of the Rift Valley to Masai Mara Game Reserve, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. An afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Know: The famous Masai Mara Game Reserve is our destination today. Known for its density of animals including the Big Five and 453 species of birds, it is one of the most visited reserves in Africa. This National Reserve’s plains are predominantly open Savannah, interspersed with patches of acacia woodland, and along the Mara River, riparian forest.
Whilst game viewing is excellent in the Mara all year round, the most popular time to visit is in late July into August where, over one million Wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of Zebra migrate from the Serengeti. The dramatic river crossings are a gruesome spectacle of survival of the fittest.

Day 09: Explore  Masai Mara
Masai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular Eco-Systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing Eco-System. I am sure you have heard the wildebeest migration is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the things you have do add to your bucket list. This will be the full day explore the Masai Mara, breakfast will be served as early as 0730am, then our cook will pack for you fresh picnic lunch since the whole day will be exploring the Masai Mara famous 7th wonder of the World. This game reserve is Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra, there is also resident wildlife year round. The Mara’s gentle fertile climate bounded by The Rift, offers perhaps the richest stocked reserve set within some 1672 sq km – an unlimited spectacle of wildlife. Located 268 km west of Nairobi, the emphasis here is on game. Herds of immense Elephants, browse among Lion, Buffalo, Thompson Gazelle, Zebra and Topi. You may occasionally sight black Rhino. In the Mara River Hippos play and Cross bask on the banks. The annual migration of a million Wildebeest follows the rains north.
After exploring the park return to your lodge before sunset for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Transfer back to Nairobi – fly back home.

Today marks the end of your 10 Day Kenya Safari for beginners with Realm Africa Safaris™. You will either fly or drie back to Nairobi arrving ontime for your International return flight back home.
