Shoulder Season

Shoulder season occurs shortly after low season, and before the peak season. These weeks and months are defined by uniquely pleasant weather (not too dry and not too wet), uncrowded attractions and low prices.

In East Africa, shoulder travel season falls in the months of April through mid-June and September through October. This season for most safari veterans is considered the best time to go game-viewing in East Africa -specifically Kenya and Tanzania are great destinations to explore in the shoulder off-season.

Our List of off-season holidays are highly customizable to travellers budget, interest and available time for travel. Browse some of our most sought after holidays.

Why Choose the shoulder period?

Lower Prices

Not only will flights be cheaper during this season, but so will hotels and often transportation by tour operators. Tours generally will cost significantly less and so they are more affordable during the shoulder off- season. You are also much more likely to get a deal on single supplements, and sometimes activity prices are reduced as well.

Smaller Crowds

If you’ve ever stood in line for popular attractions like the entering the Ngorongoro crater area or tried to visit the sheldrick elephant orphanage in Kenya during peak season, you’ll know how frustrating it can be to travel when everyone else is too.

Once families with children, and or larger group tours are out of the equation, attractions feel all but empty. Actually being able to enjoy a few moments admiring a painting with no one invading your personal space is a special treat that you just might be able to enjoy during this season.
