- 05:30 am: Early transfer to Ruhija Region of Bwindi Forest National Park.
- 07:30 am: Arrive at the Ruhija gorilla trekking Point
- 08:00 am Briefing about Gorilla trekking by UWA official.
- 08:30 am: Gorilla trekking Starts.
1 Day Gorilla Safari to Bwindi from Kabale Town
While this trip is designed to start in Kabale town, we can make arrangements to pick you up at the Uganda – Rwanda Katuna Border Point.
05:30 am: Early transfer to Ruhija Region of Bwindi Forest National Park.
Plan for an early breakfast (Not included); thereafter be ready to depart your Hotel/home at 5:30 am and embark on the drive to the Ruhija sector of Bwindi Forest National Park.
Journey time:
- Approximately – 1hr 22minutes from Kabale
- Approximately – 1hr 50minutes from Uganda – Rwanda Katuna Border Post.
07:30 am: Arrival at Ruhija Gorilla Trekking Point.
Upon arrival, you will disembark the car and stretch out or use the washrooms as your driver/guide to the registers for gorilla trekking. (please avail him copies or actual passports for verification purposes). This is also the perfect time to get yourself all set up for gorilla trekking;
- Ensure you have adequate drinking water – at least 2 liters each.
- You should have a rain jacket/coat.
- Apply insect repelent.
- Bring a Hat/cap (optional).
- Bring a pair of binoculars.
- Bring a Camera with extra Battery/memory packs/chips.
08:00 am: Gorilla Trekking Briefing by UWA official/Ranger guide.
At 08:00 am you’ll be directed to a common room where a UWA official/guide will brief you on gorilla trekking. The emphasis during this briefing will be put on the dos & don’t of gorilla Trekking which is generally known as gorilla trekking rules. We humbly request that you take every bit of this briefing seriously for both your own safety, other trackers’ safety, and most importantly the safety of the mountain gorillas.
08:30 am: Gorilla trekking In Bwindi Forest National Park
After your briefing from a UWA official, confirm that you have all the basics; a packed lunch (own arrangement), raincoat, good hiking boots, waterproof pants + long-sleeved shirt, a pair of strong garden gloves, repellent, a waterproof daypack to carry all your valuables.
Your guide will thereafter transfer you to an assigned gorilla trekking family (To be determined by a UWA official).
Pro-tip: speak to your Realm Africa Safaris™ guide/driver about any special conditions; medical or physical so he can present the same t the UWA official in a bid to get you allocated a group that fits your Physical & Health capability.

Gorilla trekking might take up most of the day and is bound to last anywhere from 30 minutes to four hours depending On the movement of the gorillas.
Upon return, your guide will transfer you back to your hotel/home or an agreed location that must not be outside Kabale Town or Katuna Border route. If your drop off location is outside these two agreed locations, then an Extra charge might apply.
