CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN KYAMBURA GORGE – Queen Elizabeth National park

Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge Queen Elizabeth National parkChimpanzee Trekking (or chimp trekking) in Kyambura Gorge is a spectacular experience incomparable to any other Chimp trekking done elsewhere in Uganda.

The Kyambura Gorge is approximately 1 Km wide and about 100 meters deep with an 11 km length that joins it to the Kazinga Channel forming the all-year-round heavy-flowing Kyambura River. The river acts as a major source of water for the wildlife that lives in the gorge among which a group of habituated chimpanzees are included.

The presence of resident habituated Chimpanzees within the gorge has seen the rise of chimp trekking in Kyambura Gorge. Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge though still under-exploited (in comparison to chimp trekking in Kibale Forest) is a great experience that we like to encourage our clients visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park to add on to their traditional 3 Days Queen Elizabeth Safari.

Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge unlike other Uganda chimp trekking experiences offers a combination of a nature walk experience with a little bit of light hiking. Kyambura River inside the gorge is home to a school Of hippopotamus – making for a real jungle trek experience found nowhere else other than in Queen Elizabeth National Park’s Kyambura Gorge and this is probably one of the reasons this park is called ” A medley of wonders “.
