WEATHER: The Rainy seasons in Uganda and Rwanda
Both Uganda and Rwanda have two rainy seasons:
- The long rains, which last from the end of February to the end of May
- The short rains, which last from October to mid-December
Both the long and short rainy seasons are characterized by frequent showers which ideally don’t last a long period but the effect on the ground is significant. After the downpours, the ground often gets muddy and slippery.
To avoid the rains, plan your gorilla trek for sometime between June and September, or between mid-December and mid-February.
