Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park in Uganda is home to over 459 mountain gorillas that make up for over half of the total world Gorilla population. Bwindi has 19 habituated gorilla families that can be tracked on the traditional One (01) hour Gorilla Trekking Adventure. How to book Bwindi Gorilla permits in 2021 – 2022

Getting to Bwindi Forest National Park from Entebbe/Kigali


Travellers intending to visit Bwindi Forest for Gorilla trekking now have to two (02) options of getting to Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park.

They can choose to Fly into Kigali and drive just a few hours(±5 hours) from Kigali to Bwindi Forest National Park. The other ordinary way is flying in through Entebbe and either driving or flying from Entebbe.

Driving from Entebbe to Bwindi Forest National Park takes approximately 9 hours (±500km/311mi) which pretty much is a whole day driving. We recommend breaking the journey with an overnight stay at Lake Mburo National park or Queen Elizabeth National Park. Of course, this largely depends on two (02) factors; available time for travel and your travel budget.

Persons with a limited time for travel But with a flexible budget may fly from Entebbe to Bwindi Forest National Park. There are two (02) domestic flight companies; Aerolink Uganda and Fly Uganda that operate both Scheduled and chartered flights to Bwindi Forest National park.

All travellers flying into Kigali to trek Mountain Gorillas in Uganda will require an East African Tourist Visa which is a multiple Entry visa into Rwanda, Uganda & Kenya. The visa costs USD100 and is valid for 90 days.

The other important thing not worth forgetting is your International Yellow fever Immunisation Certificate it is mandatory for all travellers visiting East Africa to present a valid International Yellow fever Certificate to immigration authorities as proof of having taken the shot. However, in the event that you are allergic to the Vaccine, please ensure your doctor gives you a document to support this otherwise you will be required o take the shot on arrival or risk being denied entry.
