Kihihi is a small but promising town in Kanungu District, approximately 22 kilometers, by road to get to the southern sector – Ishasha of the greater Queen Elizabeth National Park. This town is a hub for Fly-in Safaris to Bwindi landing at the famous Kihihi Airport – a 02-kilometer airport owned by a prominently rich businessman called James Musinguzi Garuga.
Kihihi is the only place you will be able to find a bank (there is only one currently available), a gas station for your vehicle’s refills, and a few motels/guesthouses to spend a night.
Typically, Kihihi is the arrival point for domestic flights from Entebbe connecting to Bwindi. Kihihi is approximately 40 km/25miles from the Buhoma region (Northern Bwindi).
Things to see & do in Kihihi Town
There is not much to see or do around Kihihi town except for Golfing which can be done at the centrally located Savannah hotel. For travelers with some cash to splash on adventure & tourism, you may opt to drive 40 km/25miles to get to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national where you can indulge in Gorilla Trekking.
