Ishasha Wilderness Camp

Situated in a remote reaches of the Queen Elizabeth National park, Ishasha Wilderness Camp is a tranquil retreat set on the banks of the Ntungwe River.

Perfectly blending in its forested surrounds, Ishasha wilderness camp offers ten luxurious tented rooms that are a home of imaginations for many safari travellers to Uganda. The large-sized beds are each covered by an equally large-sized mosquito-net and are well-positioned to afford you the best sunrise & and sunset views of the beautiful river Ntungwe.

Simple but elegant interiors, as well as hot bush style showers and flushing toilets, allow travellers to enjoy a  taste of pure comfort in this African wilderness.

A spacious thatched lounge provides the ideal place for guests to relax, while meals are served either in the cosy dining area or al fresco on the banks of the river. A blazing bonfire is the ideal focal point for guests to share stories of the day’s adventures over an ice-cold beverage. Activities include game drives in some of the most unspoilt and remote sectors of the Queen Elizabeth National Park and bush walks, as well as the opportunity to visit the nearby community and experience the local schools and traditional medicinal herbalists.

Why we like staying at Ishasha Wilderness Camp

  • The camp is located hardly 5 minutes drive from some of the wildlife Hot Spots including the gigantic fig tree where the tree-lions like to spend the mornings and afternoons.
  • Because the camp is tucked away in the forested wilderness of the remotest part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, the sights & sounds are intriguing.
  • The tasty food prepared by a local chef with vast knowledge in blending the garden-fresh picks with the international cuisines makes for perhaps one of the tastiest meal servings in the middle of nowhere.
  • If you are transiting between Queen Elizabeth NP to Bwindi forest NP for gorilla trekking, this is the perfect spot to break the bumpy ride from Kasenyi area.
