Our 12 Days Gorillas and Mt. Kilimanjaro takes you on a mountain climbing safari to Kilimanjaro Mountain and then bring to Uganda – “the pearl of Africa” for yet another exhilarating experience of Mountain Gorilla Trekking In Uganda’s Bwindi Forest NP.
Bwindi is known to host the highest number of habituated mountain gorilla families In East Africa; ther e is currently 20 habituated gorilla groups spread across four (04) designated gorilla trekking locations; Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo Sectors.

- Day 01: Arrival In Tanzania

- Day 09: Transfer to Bwindi Forest NP.
- Day 10: Gorilla trekking In Bwindi Forest NP.
- Day 11: Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga.
- Day 12: Transfer to Airport for your flight back home.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL INTO TANZANIA
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – JRO our Realm Africa Safaris™’ representative will meet and assist you at the airport, and then transfer you to your lodge – less than 10 minutes drive From the Airport. Dinner & Overnight at the lodge.
Accommodation: Kia Lodge. | Meal Plan: B&B (Doesn’t Include Dinner at the lodge tonight)
DAY 02: MACHAME GATE {1800m} – MACHAME CAMP {3000m}
In the morning at 0900hrs, you will be picked up from the hotel and drive to the Machame Gate where you will meet your local mountain guide and porters. Registration is done and thereafter start climb {Trekking} with picnic lunch through the rain forest for approximately 04 – 05 hrs thereafter arriving at Machame camp where you will spend your first night.
NOTE: Later on in the afternoon, your guide will lead you on a walk to a slightly higher Altitude and then back to your camp as a way of getting you to acclimatize well with the altitude on the next days’ hike.
DAY 03: MACHAME CAMP (3000m)-SHIRA CAMP (3800m)
Breakfast; thereafter embark on, your trek through a short Savannah forest for approximately another 4 to 5hrs, with picnic lunch en route before arriving in the afternoon at the Shira camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 04: SHIRA (3800m)- BARRANCO camp(3950m)
Breakfast; thereafter take on a slow walk through semi glacier and sandy areas with picnic lunch 3 to 4 hrs before arriving at the Baranco camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 05: BARRANCO (3950m) – BARAFU camp (4600m)
Breakfast; thereafter with a picnic lunch en-route climb through glaciers for approximately 4 to 5 hours before arriving at the Barafu camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 06: BARAFU (4600m)-UHURU-PEAK (5895m)-MWEKA camp (3100m)
An early wake-up call around 01.00hrs for preparation and light breakfast before starting the final ascent to the summit i.e. either the Stella Point reached in approximately 5 to 6 hrs and a further ascent to the Uhuru Peak reached in another approx 45minutes. After signing and short rest at Barafu camp descend via the Gilman’s Point down to Mweka camp for an hours rest with light breakfast then a descent down for dinner and overnight at Mweka hut.
DAY 07: MWEKA (3100m)-MWEKA GATE – Arusha
After breakfast, final descent to Mweka gate, thereafter say Goodbye to your Guide/ Porters and connect a private transfer to Kia Lodge. Afternoon rest and relax at leisure in the lodge, overnight booked on BB.
DAY 08: TRANSFER TO JRO AIRPORT FOR YOUR FLIGHT TO UGANDA
Breakfast; thereafter transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for a flight to Uganda.
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your Boma Hotel (10 -15 minutes drive from the Airport.

DAY 09: TRANSFER TO ENTEBBE AIRPORT, AND FLY TO BWINDI
You’ll be picked up from the Hotel and transferred to the Airport for an early scheduled flight to Bwindi. On arrival at Kihihi Airport, you will be met by a Realm Africa Safaris representative who will then transfer you by road (80 minutes) from Kihihi to Buhoma Sector (Northern sector of Bwindi).
Journey Time(s):
- Boma Hotel to Entebbe Airport – 10 – 15 minutes.
- Flight time from Entebbe to Kihihi – 1hr 15minutes.
- Road transfers from Kihihi to Buhoma – 80minutes.

DAY 10: GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI FOREST NP.
Breakfast; thereafter confirm that you have all the basics; a lunch box (to be provided by the Lodge), raincoat, good hiking boots, waterproof pants + long-sleeved shirt, a pair of strong garden gloves, repellent, a waterproof daypack to carry all your valuables.
Your guide will thereafter transfer you to the briefing point and also help you out through the registration process. After the briefing by a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger, you will embark on your long-awaited gorilla trekking experience.

DAY 11: OPTIONAL: SECOND GORILLA TREK, OR BATWA EXPERIENCE
Today you have the option of either taking On a second gorilla trekking experience (Gorilla Permits need to be pre-booked) or rather opt to visit the Batwa Pygmies who previously lived in the forest with the Mountain gorillas but were eventually expelled out of the forest.

DAY 12: TRANSFER TO KIHIHI AIRPORT FOR FLIGHT BACK TO ENTEBBE
Breakfast; thereafter transfer to Kihihi Airport for your scheduled flight back to Entebbe. From this point on, you will make personal arrangements to meet your flight back home. Alternatively, if you would like to stay an extra Day in Entebbe.
