The devils cauldron in Murchison Falls

The devil’s cauldron in Murchison Falls NP

The Devil’s cauldron in Murchison falls national park is found below the Murchison falls. The falls squeeze its way through a 6-meter narrow gap (now approximately 7 meters due to erosion of the rock walls) and drops approximately 45-meters to form the devil’s cauldron (at the bottom of Murchison falls). The sights & sound of the Nile waters rumbling and dropping down this narrow gorge to date remain one of the most magical things, and a highlight for many travellers on a Safari to Murchison falls National Park.

The best views of the cauldron in Murchison Falls National Park are when you take a boat trip on the Nile to the bottom of the falls While on the boat trip to the bottom of  Murchison Falls, you will get to see lots of wildlife & birds. Among the wildlife sightings expected are hippos, elephants, crocodiles, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Giraffe and a list of birds

For varied views, we recommend adding the top falls hike to your Murchison Falls itinerary. The hike to the top of the falls lasts about 45 minutes and hikers will be accompanied by a UWA ranger guide – the views on this hike are stunning and on a  lucky day, hikers get to see & photograph the resident Murchison falls rainbow that forms over the devil’s cauldron.

Besides a boat & hiking safari to the cauldron, guests on a safari to Murchison falls National Park can go on guided game drives, hot air balloon Safaris, chimpanzee trekking safaris in Budongo Forest, birding trips in Murchison Falls National Park or even take on the amazing sport fishing in Murchison Falls National Park
