Lions in Kidepo Valley National Park

Lions In Kidepo Valley National Park are commonly sighted around the Narus valley area especially during the dry season when the only place to find water is the Narus Valley. The valley acts as a water reservoir for the wildlife in the park – antelopes ( a favourite prey for the lions) often graze around the valley which offers a guaranteed water source for them drink from. The lions have also learned keep with the Valley.

For a better view, the lions often either climb into the sausage trees or on top of the Kopje – this affords them a clear view of the park and allow them to scan for their prey through a distance of up to 10km on a clear day.

Best time to visit Kidepo Valley National Park

The best time to visit Kidepo national park for game viewing is during the dry season months of July and August when animals are concentrated near water points. During the rainy seasons, animals disperse from the valleys, moving to the higher and drier ground where they are not so easily seen.
