Our 12 Days Kilimanjaro, gorillas and golden monkey trekking in Uganda takes you on a mountain climbing safari to Kilimanjaro Mountain and then brings to Uganda – “the pearl of Africa” for yet another exhilarating experience of Mountain Gorilla Trekking In Uganda’s’ Bwindi Forest NP and Mgahinga Gorilla NP. Uganda is Known to have over 500 mountain gorillas – there are only approximately 1,000 left in the whole world and can only be seen in three (03) countries; Uganda, Rwanda & DR. Congo – we don’t, however, operate trips to Congo for safety reasons. Our first recommendation for Mountain gorilla trekking Is Uganda followed by Rwanda; Gorilla Permits In Uganda cost USD7009 Effective 01/july/2020, and in Rwanda they cost USD1,500 per person.

- Day 02 – 07: Climbing Mountain Kilimanjaro ( 6 Days Machame Route)
- Day 08: Fly from JRO to Kigali.
- Day 09: Transfer to Bwindi Forest NP – 5 hours from Kigali incl. border crossing.
- Day 10: Mountain Gorilla trekking In Bwindi Forest NP.
- Day 11: Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla Park.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL INTO TANZANIA
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – JRO our Realm Africa Safaris™ representative will meet and assist you at the airport, and transfer to your lodge – less than 10 minutes drive From the Airport. Dinner & Overnight at the lodge.
Accommodation: Kia Lodge. | Meal Plan: B&B (Doesn’t Include Dinner at the lodge tonight)
DAY 02: MACHAME GATE {1800m} – MACHAME CAMP {3000m}
In the morning at 0900hrs you will be picked up from the hotel and drive to the Machame Gate where you will meet your local mountain guide and porters. Registration is done and thereafter start climb {Trekking} with picnic lunch through the rain forest for approximately 04 – 05 hrs thereafter arriving at Machame camp where you will spend your first night. NOTE: Later on in the afternoon, your guide will lead you on a walk to a slightly higher Altitude and then back to your camp as a way of getting you to acclimatize well with the altitude on the next days’ hike.
DAY 03: MACHAME CAMP (3000m)-SHIRA CAMP (3800m)
Breakfast; thereafter embark on, your trek through a short Savannah forest for approximately another 4 to 5hrs, with picnic lunch en route before arriving in the afternoon at the Shira camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 04: SHIRA (3800m)- BARANCO camp(3950m)
Breakfast; thereafter take on a slow walk through semi glacier and sandy areas with picnic lunch 3 to 4 hrs before arriving at the Baranco camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 05: BARRANCO (3950m) – BARAFU camp (4600m)
Breakfast; thereafter with a picnic lunch en-route climb through glaciers for approximately 4 to 5 hours before arriving at the Barafu camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 06: BARAFU (4600m)-UHURU-PEAK (5895m)-MWEKA camp (3100m)
An early wake up call around 01.00hrs for preparation and light breakfast before starting final ascent to the summit i.e. either the Stella Point reached in approximately 5 to 6 hrs and a further ascent to the Uhuru Peak reached in another approx 45minutes. After signing and short rest at Barafu camp descend via the Gilman’s Point down to Mweka camp for an hours rest with light breakfast then a descent down for dinner and overnight at Mweka hut.
DAY 07: MWEKA (3100m)-MWEKA GATE – Arusha
-After breakfast, final descent to Mweka gate, thereafter say Goodbye to your Guide/ Porters and connect a private transfer to Kia Lodge. Afternoon rest and relax at leisure in the lodge overnight booked on BB.
DAY 08: TRANSFER TO JRO AIRPORT FOR YOUR FLIGHT TO KIGALI
Breakfast; thereafter transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for a flight to Rwanda.
Flight details: JRO-KGL WB 102 DEP 16:00 ARR 17:00. On arrival at Kanombe International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your the iconic Hotel Rwanda (Mille Coline Hotel).

DAY 09: TRANSFER TO BWINDI FOREST VIA CYANIKA BORDER POST INTO UGANDA
Breakfast; thereafter enjoy a city tour. Visit the city centre the souvenir shops and the genocide memorials of Gisozi. Lunch on your own at a city restaurant thereafter drive to Cyanika border post where you will cross into Uganda and continue to Bwindi Forest National Park.
Drive Time(s): 5 Hours Including Border Crossing Time.
Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Camp – overlooking The forest. | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (BLD).
DAY 10: GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI FOREST NP.
Breakfast; thereafter confirm that you have all the basics; a lunch box (to be provided by the Lodge), raincoat, good hiking boots, waterproof pants + long-sleeved shirt, a pair of strong garden gloves, repellent, a waterproof daypack to carry all your valuables.
Your guide will thereafter transfer you to the briefing point and also help you out through the registration process. After the briefing by a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger, you will embark on your long-awaited Gorilla trekking experience. Return to the lodge, freshen up and immediately transfer To your next hotel/lodge overlooking the famous Lake Mutanda.

DAY 11: GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING IN MGAHINGA GORILLA NP.
Breakfast; thereafter confirm that you have all the basics; a lunch box (to be provided by the Lodge), raincoat, good hiking boots, waterproof pants + long-sleeved shirt, a pair of strong garden gloves, repellent, a waterproof daypack to carry all your valuables.
Your guide will thereafter transfer you to the briefing point and also help you out through the registration process. After the briefing by a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger, you will embark on yet another primate tracking experience to see the gorgeous Golden Monkeys of Uganda as they hop from branch to branch inside the bamboo forest. Return to the lodge and relax.

DAY 12: TRANSFER TO KIGALI AIRPORT FOR FLIGHT BACK HOME
Breakfast; thereafter transfer to Kigali Via Cyanika Border post. Lunch en-route – arriving on time for check-in onto your Flight back home.
NOTE:
- Much as the transfer from Bwindi to Kigali is bound to last 5 – 6 hours including border crossing time, we always like to advise Our client to book a flight departing Kigali in the late evening to allow for ample time to transfer from Bwindi Forest to Kigali.
- Prior to the start of this tour, we expect all participant to have arranged for all their Entry Visas. We recommend applying for the following Visas;
- Tanzania Tourist Visa – allows you into Tanzania.
- East African Tourist – Multiple Entry – Valid 90 – Costs USD100 – allows you entry into Rwanda, Uganda & Kenya.
