Kenya is a great destination for first time safari goers, and particulary small family groups. This destination offers excellent game viewing, and a huge diversity of scenery and activities that make for a wonderful family experience.
The direct flights from most of the European countries make Kenya accessible for children from around six years old and up that can’t travel long distances especially when it involves flight connections.
There are a number of family-friendly camps and lodges on our safaris that also welcome children and have specialised guides who will spend time showing the kids the ‘Little Five’ (buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise, ant lion and rhino beetle), teaching them about Maasai culture and how to track animals. Leaving the parents with equally enough tiem to find the actual known “BIG FIVE”.
The Kenyan coast and surrounding islands also have a number of hotels good for children from which they can explore local ruins, try out their bargaining skills at local markets or have a go at some water sports.
