11 Days Kenya Family Safari ( Day by Day – itinerary)


Day 1 – Nairobi 

You will either be collected at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your hotel in Nairobi and transferred to Wilson Airport for your flight at 10:00 am to Naboisho. It is a beautiful flight passing over the fertile Kikuyu Highlands before reaching the Great Rift Valley.  You will fly across the volcano-studded floor of the Rift before reaching the Loita Hills and Naboisho Airstrip.  You will be met by your guide and there will be an hour’s drive to camp.  We reach our camp in a grove of acacia trees by a small stream at the southern edge of the Loita Plains at Olare Lamun (the rhino salt lick) Lunch will be served and you will have a little time to relax before meeting your horses and setting off on your first gentle evening ride.

Day 02: Transfer to Laikipia

Today starts your adventure in Kenya! Spend the first two days in the Laikipia, a popular destination for those seeking to get a Glimpse Of the few left Black & white Rhinos of Africa. The park is located about 221 km / 137 Miles miles from Nairobi – you will fly from Nairobi to Nanyuki where you will meet up with your guide to transfer you to the accommodation arriving in time for check-In at your lodge. Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, your guide will then lead you to the Morani information centre where you get a full and informative brief on what is available to see & do in the Ol Pejeta conservancy.

Day 03 – Visit the Sweet water Chimpanzee sanctuary, Afternoon Game Drive.

Breakfast, thereafter head out to the sweet waters Chimpanzee Sanctuary home to approximately 39 chimpanzees rescued from physical abuse from humans. This sanctuary visit will be a Life changing experience for both the kids and yourself. Return to your camp for Lunch. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure as you prepare to go on evening game drive on the conservancy.

Day 04 – Transfer to Samburu

After breakfast, checkout with all your belongings and transfer to Samburu Game Reserve – probably Kenya’s least visited reserve – we love it for the serenity.

** The drive to Samburu will take up to 3 hours – so you or the kids might want to use up the rest of afternoon having lunch, and relaxing at the lodge. however, should you want to venture into the wild, your guide will be more than happy to take you out on an evening game drive.

Samburu affords the best opportunity for incredible photography moments – keep your camera close.

Day 05 – Explore Samburu

After breakfast, enjoy a morning safari in Samburu, a beautiful and game abundant park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s Zebra, Blue-necked Somali Ostrich, and Reticulated Giraffe. In the afternoon, you will visit a local Samburu village to experience the culture of the Samburu people. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 06 – Experience a day in the footsteps of the Warriors Life.

Today you will spend most of the day experiencing the rich culture and cultural practices of the Samburu people.

What to expect while at the Village;


  • Learn and experience at first hand the bush skills, folklore and ancient wisdom needed to survive in one of the richest wildlife regions in Africa;
  • Gain in-depth experience in wildlife tracking following an elephant or a leopard, learn survival skills, visit an original Masai village, learn how to use bow, arrows, pangas, and spears, build a bush camp, tend goats and cattle whilst listening to Masai or Samburu stories and songs;
  • Share time with real Masai and Samburu warriors while they walk, sing, track and live the traditional life in this phase of their existence;
  • It can be combined with the regular safari activities and it can last for one day up to one week;
  • Learn how to bead and create traditional Masai or Samburu artefacts.

** The warrior Academy experience can be tailored to last half-day, full-day or even for a week if you have the time.

Day 08: Transfer to Masai Mara

Depart Samburu game reserve and fly into the Northern Masai Mara wildlife corner where you will meet your guide to pick and transfer you to the Mara house – your private accommodation for the next three (03) nights.
Know: The famous Masai Mara Game Reserve is our destination today. Known for its density of animals including the Big Five and 453 species of birds, it is one of the most visited reserves in Africa. This National Reserve’s plains are predominantly open Savannah, interspersed with patches of acacia woodland, and along the Mara River, riparian forest.
Whilst game viewing is excellent in the Mara all year round, the most popular time to visit is in late July into August where over one million Wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of Zebra migrate from the Serengeti. The dramatic river crossings are a gruesome spectacle of survival of the fittest.

Day 09 – 10: Explore  Masai Mara
Masai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular Eco-Systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing Eco-System. I am sure you have heard the wildebeest migration is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the things you have to add to your bucket list. This will be the full day explore the Masai Mara, breakfast will be served as early as 0730am, then our cook will pack for you fresh picnic lunch since the whole day will be exploring the Masai Mara famous 7th wonder of the World. This game reserve is Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra, there is also resident wildlife year-round. The Mara’s gentle fertile climate bounded by The Rift offers perhaps the richest stocked reserve set within some 1672 sq km – an unlimited spectacle of wildlife. Located 268 km west of Nairobi, the emphasis here is on the game. Herds of immense Elephants, browse among Lion, Buffalo, Thompson Gazelle, Zebra, and Topi. You may occasionally sight black Rhino. In the Mara River Hippos play and Cross bask on the banks. The annual migration of a million Wildebeest follows the rains north.
After exploring the park return to your lodge before sunset for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Fly back to Nairobi – fly back home.

Today marks the end of your Kenya Family Safari Holiday with Realm Africa Safaris™. You will fly back to Nairobi arriving on-time to catch your International return flight back home.
