Ngamba Island was established in 1998 with the sole aim of caring for chimpanzees rescued from poachers. The facility currently is a home for approximately 49 chimpanzees; 29 female and 20 male. Ngamba Island is located on Lake Victoria and can be accessed either by boat or helicopter.

Our half-day Ngamba Island tour sets off at 07:00 am for the afternoon session or 11:00 am for the afternoon session.
Your day will start with us picking you up from your hotel in Entebbe (Pickups outside Entebbe cost EXTRA), and transfer you to the Water Front beach in Entebbe, Here you’ll meet up with your Boat Guide for a safety briefing before setting off on a 45-minute speedboat cruise on Lake Victoria to Namgaba Island.
On arrival at Ngamba Island, you will be warmly welcomed by the team there, and led to the briefing point where you will be offered a light Coffee/tea Breakfast.
At 11:00 am/2:00 pm you will be taken to the Viewing point where you will have a visual interaction with the Ngamba Island Chimps. You’ll also be allowed to participate in feeding the chimps.
After you are finished feeding the Chimpanzees, you will then be taken on an enriching tour of the entire Ngamba Island facility. You’ll visit the holding facility, the Vet clinic, and the food preparation station.
After you a done with the tour of Ngamba Island, you will then depart for the Entebbe Mainland at the appropriate timings; 11:45 am for the Morning session or 4:00 pm for the afternoon Session.
