GORILLA HABITUATION PROCESS…..

Gorilla Habituation process of mountain gorilla habituation can take from 02 to 03 years to be completed. Habituation in Uganda is done by a group of researchers who operate under the department of Research and Monitoring which is under Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Gorilla Habituation Process involves visiting a selected family of wild gorillas every day until it gets used to these researchers. With time, all gorilla individuals are identified in terms of their sex, age and later each is assigned a name. Once researchers are confident enough that these gorillas can be visited by tourists, they then embark on conducting a mock exercise/ trips for 06 to 08 months. Once this is successful, then the habituated family is pronounced open for tourism.

Gorilla Habituation Process for 2016 is only being conducted in Southern Bwindi – Rushaga Sector in Uganda.
