- Kyambura Gorge inside Queen Elizabeth National Park:
Chimpanzee Trekking (or chimp trekking) in Kyambura Gorge is a spectacular experience incomparable to any other Chimp trekking done elsewhere in Uganda.
The Kyambura Gorge is approximately 1 Km wide and about 100 meters deep with an 11 km length that joins it to the Kazinga Channel forming the all-year-round heavy-flowing Kyambura River. The river acts as a major source of water for the wildlife that lives in the gorge among which a group of habituated chimpanzees are included.
The presence of resident habituated Chimpanzees within the gorge has seen the rise of chimp trekking in Kyambura Gorge. Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge though still under-exploited (in comparison to chimp trekking in Kibale Forest) is a great experience that we like to encourage our clients visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park to add to their itineraries.
