Chimpanzee Forest Guest House is a moderate and budget priced lodging in the Kibale Forest area. Located on a 100 acre area of land in the midst of a working tea-plantation, a nicely kept and large garden area which attracts primates, birds and butterflies and creates a peaceful setting for guests where they can relax and enjoy views of Lake Nyabikere, Kibale Forest and the Rwenzori Mountains.
Chimpanzee Forest Guest House – Kibale Forest was originally built-in the 1950 for the then District Commissioner, today the land and Guest House has been owned and maintained by a Ugandan family who understands and practices the concept of African and Ugandan hospitality in particular.
The GuestHouse has thatch covered cottages – giving you privacy and relaxation as you take in your splendid, natural surroundings before you including the vast tea plantation which is a soothing experience in itself.
There are also rooms in the main-house- we like to use the cottages for our clients since they give a more private experience near Kibale Forest, the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary and the Crater Lakes, from here you can even take the “Top of the World” Hike from here passing by 3 crater lakes with some excellent views from above.
The food is excellent here serving Ugandan and International dishes, the latter with a touch of Uganda by using local ingredients and local accents to the meals served.
As the sun sets there is often an evening campfire where you can sit around and exchange tales of your chimpanzee trek, all-day chimpanzee habituation, nature walk in Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, or a hike to the top of the world as the sounds of the African night reach your ears and the sky above is illuminated by countless of stars.
There is a bar where you can buy a Ugandan beer, sodas, or even our version of Gin called Waragi that many visitors like to have a sip or two. Simply a comfortable place to stay a couple of nights in a moderate lodge with an African touch, a working tea-plantations and great views of the Mountains of the Moon, besides you are close to Kibale Forest and it will take just a few minutes in the morning to reach the park headquarters.
