Where to see rhinos in Kenya
Ol Pejeta Conservancy Rhino filming in East Africa
The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to over 100 critically endangered black rhino who live on the land along with 20 southern white rhinos. The conservancy prides itself in safeguarding the critically endangered species. Ol Pejeta is a haven sanctuary for Najin and Fatu, the two last remaining mother and daughter northern white rhinos on the planet. However, neither of them can reproduce due to their age (See: The last northern white rhino profile). In August 2019 a pioneering egg harvesting procedure was carried out in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, fuelling hope for the survival of the species.
The 360km² land offers a wide range of habitat from grasslands, bushland and riverine. Due to the diversity of the Laikipia region has the richest diversity of wildlife in Kenya, including the Big Five, outside of the Masai Mara. Where to see rhinos in Rwanda
Akagera National Park is the only place in Rwanda where one can track, see, photograph or film Rhinos.
Originally hailing from Safari Park Dvůr Králové (Czech Republic), Flamingo Land (United Kingdom) and Ree Park Safari (Denmark), and selected from the EAZA Ex Situ Programme (EEP) for Black Rhino, the five rhinos began their journey from the Czech Republic on the 23rd June following months of preparation at Safari Park Dvůr Králové. Every precaution was taken to minimize stress and ensure their well-being throughout the translocation process. They were flown to Kigali before being transferred to Akagera National Park by truck.
