Kenya
Kenya is the oldest, and supposedly the most “well-known” safari destination. Less well known is that on a contemporary safari, you can lose yourself for days to end, untroubled by crowds, communing with the bush and its inhabitants in an almost religious experience.
In northern Kenya, Samburu, Shaba and Buffalo Springs Game Reserves join Lewa, Borana, Ol Pejeta and a belt of community-owned conservancies to deliver huge skies, exquisite accommodation, and superlative game viewing, while the more remote parts of the Masai Mara offer incredible encounters with wildlife in an isolation not commonly thought possible here. Meru is a wild “frontier” national park, better known, through Born Free, for the Adamsons and their pioneering predator relocations in the 1960′s.
It’s hard to travel to any of these places without the soundtrack of some romantic movie playing over in your head.

The best time to visit Kenya
The best time to visit Kenya is during the Dry season from late June to October (these are the best wildlife viewing months). The wildebeest migration usually reaches the Masai Mara in August and remains until October when they move back to the Serengeti in Tanzania. Wildlife viewing is good year-round, but this can differ for some parks. See below to learn when to visit which park.
The Masai Mara offers great wildlife viewing throughout the year. In the peak of the rainy season, most other parks, especially in the highlands and along the coast, can be problematic with regards to heat, humidity and continuous rain. Some of the lodges close as a result. The dry months offer quality wildlife viewing throughout Kenya.

Getting in & around Rwanda
From your home country, you will fly into Kenya’s main airport Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), located 15km/9mi southeast of Nairobi. Kenya’s second international airport is Moi International Airport (MBA), located 9km/6mi west of Mombasa, but except flights to Zanzibar, this is primarily used for domestic and charter flights.
From Nairobi or Mombasa, one can fly or drive between reserves, or opt to do a bit of both. Most domestic flights out of Nairobi depart from Wilson Airport (WIL), 6km/4mi south of Nairobi.
Whichever mode one chooses for travel, in most cases Realm Africa Safaris™ will arrange your pick-up at the airport and all further transportation as part of the pre-booked safari with us.
