Uganda is privileged to have two (02) National Parks where one can see Mountain gorillas in the wild; Bwindi Forest National Park & Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Bwindi Forest NP has over 400 mountain Gorillas – 12 habituated mountain Gorilla groups – 96 Gorilla permits available every day at USD600 (Rwanda gorilla Permits cost USD1,500).
Mgahinga Gorilla NP has 80 mountain gorilla – 01 habituated mountain Gorilla Group – 08 gorilla permits available every day at USD600 – still cheaper than the Rwanda Gorilla permits which cost USD1,500.

Unlike Uganda, Rwanda has only one (01) Park where Mountain Gorilla trekking can be done. All Rwanda Gorilla Safaris take place in Volcanoes National Park.
Volcanoes National Park has 10 habituated mountain gorilla groups – 80 Mountain Gorilla permits are available every day at USD1,500 each (Uganda Gorilla Permits cost USD600).

Best Time to Visit: Gorilla Trekking can be done all year round, but the best time to go on a gorilla Safari is in the drier months of June – August and December to February.
What to Pack: Good waterproof sturdy hiking Boats that go above your ankle, long socks, long trousers, long sleeved shirt, raincoat, repellent, and of course the right pieces of equipment that suits your photography budget.
Safari Seasons: June to August is Peak Season – Tours cost more this time of the year and parks are usually crowded.
