What is the Driving time from Queen Elizabeth NP to Buhoma Region?


From Queen Elizabeth National Park, Buhoma Region (Northern Sector of Bwindi) is located about 4 – 5 hours drive from the Mweya Peninsular (inside Queen Elizabeth National Park). This journey is approximately 158km long. If you choose to detour and visit the Ishasha Sector (Southern sector Queen Elizabeth National Park) popular for sightings of tree Climbing Lions, then be sure to even take longer to get to Buhoma. The drive time could even get better/shorter after the completion of the ongoing road works along the Kihihi – Buhoma section. A good/functioning 4×4 vehicle is recommended on this drive as sections from Katunguru – Kihihi still remains unpaved and can get very slippery during the rainy season months of April, May & November. Experience to navigate these routes is needed – we recommend hiring an experienced local tour guide to drive you on your Safari in Uganda.
