KYANINGA LODGE

Kyaninga Lodge – Luxury accommodation in Fort Portal Town – Chimp trekking Lodging near Kibale Forest National Park – Overlooking Lake Kyaninga and on a clear day the Mountains of the Moon.

Kyaninga Lodge; All wonder how on earth this lodge was built!! for some it looks like an artistically painted structure – to us who know it, we simply say Kyaninga Lodge is a masterpiece of true opulence.

Located less than 01-hour way from Kibale Forest National Park – One of Africa’s premier destination for chimpanzee trekking experiences, Kyaninga is your ideal upmarket lodging option whilst on a Uganda Safari to see the chimps in Kibale Forest. The 300 square miles Kibale Forest Park contains some of the Africa’s most dense and varied rainforest and is home up to 13 species of primates. The star attraction is the 1500 resident chimpanzees, but the Kibale Forest guided walks will offer the opportunity to see rare red colobus and L’Hoest monkeys, as well as the olive baboon, gray-cheeked mangabey, blue monkeys and bush babies. The forest is also home to over 300 species of birds, with six species endemic to the park, and other mammals including leopards, rare forest elephants, buffalo, giant forest hogs and half a dozen species of antelope.

Kyaninga Lodge offers eight (08) en-suite solar powered Cottages built on platforms and set apart to offer privacy and tranquility. Access to the cottages from the main lodge is on a raised wooden walkway. Each cottage is beautifully appointed with a choice of either twin (02 beds) or a double (o1 big bed) beds made up with the softest bed linens and feather pillows. Each cottage’s en-suite bathrooms boast of marble countertop basins set atop beautifully crafted Elgon olive pedestals, claw footed freestanding baths, glass-walled showers and plenty of hot water from solar water heaters.  Extra beds, pillows, and bedding are available on request.

Kyaninga Lodge’s main building that houses the restaurant, offers stunning views on both sides. There are two (02) raised galleries to offer secluded – intimate spaces for those wishing to absorb the panorama in a more private setting. On the lake side, the main lodge leads to two (02) decks well-furnished with comfortable loungers, while steps hewn from local volcanic rock lead down to the swimming pool and onto two (02) lawned terraces overlooking the deep blue water and primeval forest of Lake Kyaninga itself. Comfortable seating areas set around an imposing double-sided open fireplace allows for you to enjoy a cozy evening over a good book, a board game or a drink from the bar.

An indoor sitting area leads out to a private deck where one can enjoy morning tea or coffee and views over the lake and the Mountains of the Moon beyond.

Located on the lower slopes of the property, Kyaninga Lodge’s beautiful gardens are the creation of London-based landscape designer Imogen Jenkins. The gardens were specially designed to provide a counterpoint to the magnificent lodge, and include one of the very few grass tennis courts in the country, as well as probably the only croquet lawn in Uganda.
