Uganda offers two (02) alternative gorilla trekking experiences; Gorilla trekking & Gorilla Habituation.
*Gorilla Trekking allows a group of not more than 08 persons to spend 01-hour with a group of habituated mountain Gorillas in Bwindi & Mgahinga. this 01-hour gorilla trekking permit costs USD700 per person.
*Gorilla Habituation is a full Day tracking experience and allows strictly 04 persons in a group accompanied by a team of researchers to spend up to 04 hours with a group of wild gorillas still undergoing habituation.
UGANDA GORILLA PERMIT PRICES
Uganda Gorilla Permit Prices 2020 -2022 cost USD700 for all foreign Non-Residents, USD600 for Foreign Residents and or Expatriates living and working within East Africa ( Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya), and East African locals pay Uganda Shillings – UGX250,000. All the above Uganda gorilla Permit Prices above include; Ranger guide fees, Park Entrances and community contribution to the community that lives around Bwindi Forest and or Mgahinga Gorilla Park – the only two parks where you can see mountain gorillas in Uganda.
UGANDA GORILLA HABITUATION PERMIT PRICES
Besides the traditional Mountain gorilla trekking experience, Uganda offers a unique – up-close experience with wild mountain gorillas dubbed “ Mountain Gorilla Habituation Experience“.
Mountain gorilla habituation, unlike gorilla trekking, is a four (04) gorilla affair that involves joining a group of researchers to participate in the full day gorilla habituation exercise aimed at turning a wild gorilla group into a fully habituated group friendly to tourists. Its such groups that are then open for up to 08 tourists to visit at USD600 per person.
Mountain Gorilla habituation Permit prices for 2020 – 2022 cost USD1,500 for all foreign Non-Residents, USD1,000 for Foreign Residents and or Expatriates living and working within East Africa ( Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya), and East African locals pay Uganda Shillings – UGX750,000.
