HUYE (BUTARE) DISTRICT - SOUTHERN RWANDA
Huye District is one of Rwanda’s most distinguished towns and formerly Rwanda’s administrative town during the colonial Era when it was called Butare, a name that people still use to date.
Huye (Butare) is home to the National University of Rwanda, the National Institute of Scientific Research and the excellent Ethnographic Museum, Huye (Butare) may have lost its glory to the current Kigali capital after Independence, today Huye still maintain its political relevance, especially since it’s led by legions of Rwanda’s academic elite group.
