How many days are sufficient for me to explore the Masai Mara?
Typically, we like to recommend that you plan to go for a 4 days/3 nights safari into the Masai Mara. With the 4 days/3 nights at your disposal, be sure to have ample time to explore the vast expanses of this Mara Reserve. The reserve is home to a variety of wildlife, rugged landscapes, warm and welcoming people, and an exciting array of creatures – both big and small. The Masai Mara is famous for hosting the most magical wildlife journey in the world – the annual wildebeest Migration which features approximately 1.5 million wildebeests onto its sprawling savannahs each July through October.
However, if you don’t have so much time, we advise that you plan to spend a minimum of 3 Days /02 nights inside the Mara which still gives you the chance to comb the Park for amazing wildlife Sightings.

Best time to go on a safari to the Masai Mara
- December – February: Generally drier & warmer with clearer skies and lower rainfall. Excellent for Photography.
- March-May: Pleasant temperatures but with higher rainfall. Despite the rain, several hours of daily sunshine & clear skies are still encountered.
- June-Mid September: Cloudier & cooler but drier with little rainfall but more overcast days.
- Mid-September-November: Short rains are a possibility but the sky also tends to be clearer with sunny days possible.

How to get to the Masai Mara from Nairobi
There are two (02) ways of getting to Masai Mara Reserve from Nairobi. You can either take on a road trip or opt to Fly.
Driving from Nairobi to Masai Mara Game Reserve: This road trip starting in Nairobi will last approximately 06 hours to get to the much nearer entry gates of Sekenani, Talek, or Oloolaimutia gates to the Mara located on the Narok side of the reserve. To access the park using the western side entry gates of Musiara or Oloololo requires an extra 30 – 45 minutes following the B3 highway towards Bomet, just after passing Narok town. Road conditions are poor with the last 75 km to the reserve being very bumpy.
Flying from Nairobi to Masa Mara Game Reserve: Flying to Masai Mara is a more convenient option that lasts only one (01) hour from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to a variety of different airstrips in the Mara.
