A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT MUKIZA GORILLA FAMILY IN THE RUHIJA SECTOR
The Kyaguliro Gorilla family had a total of 21 members, including 8 Adult females under the leadership of Rukina – a very tolerant silverback, who spent a lot of time with the adult females as well as his many infants – earning him the title of a good leader for the family. Rukina having lived upto 29 years (born 1984) but suddenly died after leading the Kyaguliro Gorilla family Group for 11 years (Since 2004).
During Rukina tenure (2004 – April 2015) Rukina’s leadership was often contested by Mukiza another silverback in the Kyaguliro family who took over leadership of the Kyaguliro Family at sudden death of Rukina. However, even though Rukina was dead, an immigrant Silverback (Rukara) from Bitukura Gorilla Family Group in Ruhija Sector invaded the Kyaguliro Gorilla Group Family and is currently commanding a section of family members. This has often caused continued fights within – this resulting in Mukiza breaking off the Kyaguliro Family to form his own family New Mukiza Gorilla Family Group Ruhija Bwindi – leaving Kyaguliro gorilla family group under the leadership of immigrant Rukara.
