Mongoose filming in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Mongoose filming in Queen Elizabeth Park requires just like any other filming project in Uganda requires the crew to apply, obtain and or secure filming permits & permission from the Media Council, and Uganda Wildlife Authority – a process Realm Africa Safaris™ is willing to help you through.


Requirements for filming Mongoose in Queen Elizabeth National Park


First and foremost is each crew member must fill out FORM G and each attach scanned copies Of both their passport and a recent passport-sized photo to appear on the Media card. After all member, so of the crew have each filled out the FORM G, the team leader or production manager while be required to present (via email) a detailed synopsis of the entire shoot.  The synopsis should include the following; brief information about your company/ yourself, your intended film project in Uganda, intended filming location in Uganda, Duration of Film shooting, and just don’t forget to mention how this film will benefit Uganda. Both the filled out FORM G’s and all relevant attachments including the synopsis can then be emailed to Realm Africa Safaris™ and we will forward these to the Uganda media council for consideration.


PRESS ACCREDITATION FEES ( ALL FEES BELOW ARE PAID TO UGANDA MEDIA COUNCIL)


  1. a fee of US$175 per person is paid for a period not exceeding 30 days of the journalist’s stay.
  2. a fee of US$225 per person is paid for a period beyond 30 days up to six months of stay.
  3. a fee of US$325 per person is paid for a period of two years.

 

Press Accreditation & Media Card issuances are completely at the discretion of the Uganda Media Council.

Considering that all is well and the Uganda Media Council has approved you to Film In Uganda by issuing you the Press accreditation Cards, then you will have to download a Filming In Uganda National Parks form, fill out and send it to us (info@realmafricasafaris.com). We will on receipt forward this to the Uganda wildlife Authority for consideration. It is this information that the Uganda Wildlife Authority – UWA will then utilize to draft a memorandum – MOU, and or a Film Contract indicating the regulations of your Banded Mongoose Filming In Queen Elizabeth Park. An invoice stating the price of a Banded mongoose filming permit for your crew will be Sent to Realm Africa Safaris™ which we will in turn forward to you For payment to be made to UWA.

**Just so you have an idea, all filming in Uganda National Parks is charged at 40% of the activity you intend to film, plus an EXTRA 10% monitoring fee. Both fees are payable to Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)

UWA Procedures: (**We have no influence on this but can only help you follow up the process on the ground)

Pre-application advice:

  • UWA welcomes an initial conversation and/or site visit with filmmakers to discuss the logistics of your request and determine from an early stage what we may and may not be able to achieve. (Realm Africa Safaris™ can assist acting as your representative)
  • You should address all your enquiries to the Communications Manager at UWA Headquarters. (Realm Africa Safaris™ can assist acting as your representative)
  • After initial discussions with the filmmakers or photographers to agree on activities, a formal application and letter must be submitted.

Fill in an application form (download from the link below) and send:

  • Applications should be made using the UWA official application form only. (link provided below)
  • UWA will acknowledge receipt of all applications within 24 hours and no later than 48 hours.
  • All film requests must be sent in at least 3 weeks prior to the start date of filming/photography.
  • All film requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the various sensitivities and other commitments of the protected areas but with a flexible approach aimed at helping, filmmakers/photographers meet their objectives.
