Kinigi Guest House – Budget Lodging – basic accommodation near the Volcanoes National Park.
Kinigi Guest House also known Village Touristique de Kinigi is the project of local women’s co-op that assist Genocide orphans and victims, so staying here is a matter of convenience in regards to easy access to the gorilla trek and at the same time, you assist a good cause.
Kinigi Guesthouse was founded as an income-generating project for the “Association de Solidarité des Femmes Rwandaises” (ASOFERWA), a non-profit making organisation of mainly widows and orphans). The income generated from the Kinigi guest house is used to pay school fees for local orphan children, purchase land for agricultural projects, support groups of widows, and provide a market for art pieces created by the local artists and in turn help Rwandan families.
Kinigi local community members are employed at Kinigi guest house, food and other items are purchased from the local Kinigi community.
The Guest House is a basic but functional lodging at an affordable price. There are twenty rooms and the guest house can accommodate up to 40 guests. The rooms come with en-suite bath and there is one VIP room. They also have dorm rooms for those that want to get by on very basic accommodations.
Food like the rooms is once again quite basic but ample meals are served. The guest house also has a bar and lounge to relax after a long day of gorilla tracking, golden monkey tracking or hiking in Volcanoes National Park.
Laundry service is available to guests which comes in quite handy t0 have some laundry done after gorilla trekking
Kinigi Guest House is a place of convenience and value for those that would like to save some money while gorilla tracking in Rwanda.
