Gorilla Tracking In Uganda takes place in two (02) National Parks; Bwindi Forest & Mgahinga National Park both located In the southwestern corner of Uganda bordering Rwanda.

Bwindi Forest has 18 Habituated Mountain Gorilla families144 Gorilla tracking Permits available every day at the price of USD600 per Permit ($700 per permit after 1st/July/2020).

Mgahinga Gorilla Park, unlike Bwindi Forest, has only One (01) habituated Gorilla Family – 08 Gorilla Trekking Permits available every day at the Price of USD600 per permit.  ($700 per permit after 1st/July/2020)

For one to trek Gorillas in Uganda, a gorilla permit ought to have been secured in prior to arrival. Realm Africa Safaris™ can assist you to secure a gorilla permit and also recommend and book you a place to stay while on your gorilla tracking Uganda Safari to either Bwindi or Mgahinga National parks.

BEST TIME TO GO GORILLA TRACKING IN UGANDA


Bwindi & Mgahinga is open for gorilla trekking all-year-round, but the best times to go gorilla tracking is from June to August and December to February. At these times, the forest trails are drier and therefore less slippery. Also, your chance of a dry gorilla viewing experience is higher during these months. This might result in a better experience and photography will be alot easier without the rains.


WHERE TO STAY WHILE ON A GORILLA TRCKING SAFARI IN UGANDA


Bwindi unlike Mgahinga has foru (04) regions where you can tracek mountain gorillas. These include: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and the far-flung Nkuringo Sector. The choice on wher to stay on your gorilla tracking safari is highly dependant on which gorilla trekking region you are allocated at the time of booking and paying for your gorilla permit.

WHAT TO WEAR & BRING FOR YOUR GORILLA TRACKING UGANDA SAFARI

  • Sturdy hiking shoes ( Preferrably water proof).
  • Long-sleeved shirt and trousers (Preferrably convertible Quickdry pants – see here).
  • Long sock that allow for you to tuck your pants in to stop any crawling bugs getting up your pants.
  • Rain jacket for in case it rains. Remember it a tropical rain forest.
