Rushaga – only 5 minutes by foot is the only area in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest where you can go on a Gorilla Habituation Experience which means 4 hours with the Mountain Gorillas.
Gorilla Safari Lodge gives visitors sweeping views of the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and beyond. You are not far from Park headquarters in the Rushaga area of the park and you do not have to drive great distances on the morning of your gorilla trek.
When it comes to the lodge itself you will find it most enjoyable. It is small and intimate, it is composed of the main lodge which includes the restaurant, bar and a lounge where one can relax and sit back – there is usually a fire in the evening which adds to the ambiance of Gorilla Safari Lodge. The food is excellent and expertly prepared for the guests and vegetarians can easily be accommodated.
For the guests there are 8 cottages, two of which are double-roomed family units for families or for those traveling together. The rooms are nicely furnished and one of the added pluses is that each cottage has a fireplace to take the chill out of the cold Bwindi Impenetrable Forest nights. It does get chilly here due to the elevation of the area. The cottages are solar powered and there is plenty of hot water for a nice shower after gorilla tracking.
The lodge and the cottages are tastefully furnished, the beds provide that extra touch of comfort for guests that make Gorilla Safari Lodge a good choice if you are tracking one of the gorilla families in the Rushaga or Nkuringo area of Bwindi Impenetrable forest..
