How do I get from Entebbe to Buhoma Region? Which is the best way to get to the Buhoma region for My gorilla trek? How does driving compare to Flying? Is it cheaper to drive or fly from Entebbe to Buhoma Region? Getting to the Buhoma region from Entebbe
There are two (02) ways to get from Entebbe to Buhoma Region – you can either drive or Fly.
By Road, you’ll have to prepare yourself for a long 9 -10 hours drive from Entebbe to get to the Buhoma Region. This drive follows the Entebbe – Kampala highway (we recommend using the newly constructed Entebbe – Kampala Express highway) to get to Kyengera Trading center, where you will then follow the Kampala – Masaka highway and drive to Mbarara – Ntungamo and turn right onto the Ntungamo – Rukuingiri highway. This entire stretch of the road from Kampala is all paved but after Rukungiri, you begin to drive on a loose surface dirt road. Driving on a dirt road can be quite challenging to navigate especially in the rainy season months of April, May & November when the roads get wet, muddy & slippery, therefore, we recommend that you considered hiring both a good 4×4 vehicle with a local safari driver guide with the experience to safely navigate the entire route.
By Air, you’ll fly from Entebbe international airport or Kajjansi Airfield aboard Aerolink Uganda or Fly Uganda respectively landing at Kihihi Airport. The flight from Entebbe to Kihihi Airport will typically last about 1hour 30minutes – depending on the day routing of the plane. Upon arrival at Kihihi, you will be met by a Realm Africa Safaris representative who will meet, greet and transfer you to Buhoma Region ( Northern Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park.
From Kihihi you’ll transfer by road to Buhoma Region. The road transfer from Kihihi Airport to buhoma typically lasts 1 hour 20 Minutes and we have hope that this drive will eventually get shorter/quicker after the Kihihi – buhoma road works are completed. This drive is quite scenic so we advise that you keep your camera close for any photo opportuinites along the way.
