Lake Victoria is one of the African Great Lakes, with a surface area of approximately 59,947 km2 (23,146 sq mi) which makes it Africa’s largest lake by area, world’s second-largest freshwater lake by surface area after Lake Superior in North America. The lake has many species of fish that inhabit nowhere else, especially cichlids, and invasive fish species, such as the Nile perch which has driven many endemic species to extinction. The Nile perch was introduced to Lake Victoria for fishing, and can reach up to 2 m (6.6 ft) and 200 kg (440 lb).

Best time to go: Fishing on L.Victoria can be done all year round. The best time for fishing is during the dry months; June to August and December to February. However, we recommend that anglers avoid fishing when the moon is full and the rainy season months of April and May.
