Best Places to Film Reptiles in Uganda

Uganda has numerous Reptile Filming locations, however not all can be considered to offer equal filming opportunities. In today’s article, we will mention the best places to film reptiles in Uganda.

Uganda Reptiles worth filming include the common Agama lizard, the three-horned Chameleone, leopard tortoise and the not so beautiful but yet awesome Nile crocodile that roams the fresh waters of the great lakes and rivers of Uganda.


Best Places to Film Reptiles  In Uganda


  • Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre.

The Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre – UWEC also commonly know as the Entebbe Zoo is home to quite a number of reptiles both free-ranging & in cages. These include; the a mazingly large Nile crocodile, tortoise, terrapins, and a variety of African snake species including the African rock python, Cobra, Gaboon viper and many more.   • Entebbe Reptile Village.

The Entebbe Reptile Village located on the outskirts of Entebbe city is yet another interesting place worth visiting for Reptile Filming in Uganda. This reptile village was started by a local snake guide called Yasin Kazibwe. (Click to watch a youtube video of Kazibwe Yasin). This place is a perfect place to film some notable Uganda reptile species like the African Rock python, cat-eyed Snake, Gabon Viper, forest cobra, Egg-eating snake, three-horned chameleon to mention but a few.

  • Ngamba Island.

Though popularly known as the chimpanzee Island, Ngamba is equally a rewarding Reptile filming location in Uganda especially for free-roaming monitor lizards, agama lizards, tortoise, and quite a variety of snakes. Ngamba’s location on the gigantic Lake Victoria makes for a perfect filming backdrop for your reptile film shoot.

  • Bwindi Forest National Park.

Bwindi Forest National Park offers a lot more than just the mountain gorillas. The forest is a habitat for the Three-horned chameleon, Johnston’s Chameleon, Sparse-scaled Forest Lizard, Great Lakes Bush Viper, Pale-headed Forest Snake, and many more others.

The forested environment around Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park might be a perfect backdrop for your shoot.

  • Murchison Falls National Park.

Murchison falls National Park is home to some of the largest Nile crocodiles that can be filmed at the bottom of the falls where they like to busk and wait for fish that has been forced down by the powerful current of the thunderous Murchison Falls.

In our Opinion, Murchison falls might perhaps be the Best Place to film Crocodiles in Uganda.
