What is the Price for Gorilla Permits? The price for Gorilla Permits varies depending on where you choose to go gorilla trekking. Currently, there are only three (03) Places in Africa where you can travel and see Mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. These include Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, we only recommend going to Uganda and/or Rwanda, as Congo remains partially unsafe (in our opinion) for Gorilla Trekking.

What is the Price for Gorilla Permits in Uganda?
The 2024 – 2026 Price for gorilla Permits in Uganda is categorized as follows;
- Foreign Non-Residents pay $800 per person/permit.
- Foreign Residents pay $700 per person/permit.
- East Africans from EAC member states Pay Uganda Shillings – UGX300,000 per person/permit.
- Africans from the Rest of Africa pay $500 per person/permit.

What is the Price for Gorilla Permits in Rwanda?
Similar to Uganda, Rwanda’s Permits are priced in categories;
- Foreign Non-Residents pay $1,500 per person/permit.
- Foreign Residents pay $500 per person/permit.
- Rwanda Nationals & East Africans from EAC member states pay $200 per person/permit.
- Africans from the Rest of Africa pay $500 per person/permit.
How do I book a Gorilla Permit?
The best, and safest way to book a gorilla Permit in Uganda or Rwanda is through a licensed local Tour Operator like Realm Africa Safaris™. Both, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), a government body responsible for tourism in Uganda, and, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), a government body responsible for tourism in Rwanda, are currently only allowing locally licensed companies to purchase Gorilla Permits.

We recommend booking & Paying for your Gorilla permit(s) 3 – 6 Months in Advance. This is so because the gorilla permits are competitive to secure and often get sold out. especially during the Peak or Dry Season months of June – September, December – February.
