Rhino filming in Kenya

Rhino Filming in Kenya

Kenya was home to an estimated 20,000 black rhinos. In the last decade, an estimated 8,889 African rhinos have been lost to poaching and habitat loss. The year 2013 was the worst year for poaching in Kenya when more than 5% of the national population were killed. However, there are still quite a few Rhinos still surviving in the wild and on heavily guarded private Sanctuaries like the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Rhino filming In Kenya

In the wild, Rhinos in Kenya can be seen at Nairobi National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park and in the greater Mara reserve

Masai Mara Game Reserve Rhino Filming in Kenya

The greater Masai Mara Game Reserve boasts of having between 35-50 black rhinos in the Masai Mara Game Reserve at any one time. The Mara Reserve forms the northern portion of the Serengeti – Mara ecosystem. It is
bordered on the north-east by the Loita Plains, on the east by the Laleta Hills, on the west by the Siria
Escarpment, and on the south by the northern Serengeti National Park.

We recommend staying at Sala’s Camp which is strategically located on the edge of a dedicated black rhino sanctuary within the isolated southern Masai Mara and many of them are frequently seen in the area around Sala’s along the Sand River.
