Sunbird Lodge
Sunbird Lodge offers boutique style accommodation with perhaps the best views- overlooking the Pink Flamingo filled Lake Elementaita – Sunbird Lodge is a mere 20 minutes drive from Lake Nakuru National Park.
Location: Located at the rim of the “Pink” flamingo filled Lake Elementaita in the Great Rift Valley in Kenya between Gilgil and Nakuru. This lodge sits on 55 acres of grounds with perhaps the best view of the Lake. Sunbird Lodge is named after the “Sunbird” just one of the more than 450 species of birds species in this area.
Rooms & Amenities: The Lodge offers only 10 large and comfortable cottages (sleeping a maximum of 25 persons if fully occupied). The cottages at Sunbird are built from natural materials and each has a thatched roof, private verandah, king size bed, additional single bed, en-suite bathroom, and mosquito nets.
The Lodge restaurant area serves a buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner is a la carte style accompanied by perhaps the best views of the Flamingo filled lake. In the evening two (02) fireplaces keep the guests warm and create a romantic atmosphere. For the record, the staff here are happy to set up an “under the African star” outdoor dining experience overlooking Lake Elementaita.
Activities:
There are lots of other activities that you can enjoy on the way to or while at Sunbird Lodge including a day visit to the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park – only 30 minutes drive from this lodge or exploring the lakes Baringo and Bogoria, a visit to the neighbouring Community and even an interactive guided Nature walk to the sleeping Ugali Hills is possible. The list of things to see & do around Lake Elementaita is endless.
