Rwanda Gorilla Family migrates to Uganda. The reason is still unknown.

For over two (02) weeks now, Rwanda’s Hirwa Gorilla Family has found a new home In Uganda’s Mgahinga National ParkPreviously known to have only one (01) habituated Gorilla Family, Mgahinga Gorilla Park now boasts of an extra 20 Habituated gorillas that recently migrated from the neighboring Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

WHY RWANDA’S HIRWA GORILLA GROUP MIGRATED TO UGANDA.

The debate on what the actual cause of movement for the Hirwa Gorilla Family is still ongoing, however, sources attribute this to food scarcity in the Volcanoes Park.Mgahinga Gorilla National Park has the smallest gorilla population of about 80 gorillas. The park has an abundance of foliage & fruits that gorillas love to eat. It’s because of this that the Hirwa gorilla family migrated to the well preserved Mgahinga National Park in Uganda.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE RE-PURCHASED RWANDA GORILLA PERMITS TO TRACK HIRWA GORILLA FAMILY?

The Rwanda government through Rwanda Development Board (RDB) is closely working with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to ensure that tourists are able to track the Hirwa Gorilla Family. Permits to track Hirwa Gorilla Family in Mgahinga National Park currently cost $600. The revenue collected from permits sold is shared (50/50) between Uganda & Rwanda with each taking $300.
