The Royal mile bird watching trail is located inside Budongo forest a perch of forest almost 739sqkm wide and lies in the famous Albertine Rift Corridor. The Royal Mile Bird Watching Trail is considered part of the popular Murchison fall national park – one of Uganda’s premier parks well renown for it powerful falls that plunge through a 7 meter narrow gap falling almost 40 meters down to form the spectacular Murchison fall.

The Royal Mile bird Watching trail was named so for after the historic King of Bunyoro – King Kabalega visited this spot for leisure . The Royal mile is a the birdwatchers favourite spot (second to Semuliki national park). The Royal Mile bird watching trail is a host habitat to 02 birds endemic to this trail; Yellow – footed flycatcher and Illadopsis puveli.
