Media card application in Uganda: All crew (journalists) intending to film in Uganda must have applied and successfully acquired a media Permit prior to them starting on any shoot. Media card application in Uganda

Media cards ( Press Accreditation/Media Permits) in Uganda are issued by the Uganda Media Council.


How to apply for a Media Card in Uganda


Fill out the mandatory FORM G and accompany it with copies of scanned passport (bios Page) and a recent passport-sized photo to be used in processing your Media card (Press accreditation or Media permit). Also, send us a detailed write-up/ synopsis of the film you intend to shoot in Uganda. After all the above is sent through to us, we will then proceed to submit these to the Uganda Media Council for scrutiny and approval – at the discretion of the Uganda Media Council.

It does take Realm Africa Safaris™ approximately 02 – 03 working days from the time we receive all the above-mentioned documents to process your media card.


Media Permit Fees in Uganda ( Payable to Uganda Media Council)


  1. a fee of US$175 per person is paid for a period not exceeding 30 days of the journalist’s stay.
  2. a fee of US$225 per person is paid for a period beyond 30 days up to six months of stay.
  3. a fee of US$325 per person is paid for a period of two years.

** The fees mentioned above are set and can be amended by the Uganda Media Council without any prior consultation. we, therefore, remind you to treat these as a guide. 

For all Filming Crew and Production Companies applying for a media card in Uganda, we recommend that you allow ample time to the process of application, and acquiring your press accreditation(s) for every crew member. If you have limited time, a rushed last-minute permit might be possible, however, but the costs are definitely much higher. (See: Process of applying and securing Press accreditation in Uganda)
