HABITUATED MOUNTAIN GORILLA FAMILY IN MGAHINGA PARK
Habituated Mountain gorilla family in Mgahinga Gorilla Park – 01 gorilla group – 08 gorilla permits each at USD600 – Fly into Kigali and trek Mountain Gorillas in Mgahinga Gorilla Park.
Mgahinga Gorilla Park is the second park in Uganda (after Bwindi Forest) where one can go gorilla trekking. Mgahinga Gorilla Park has just over 80 gorillas, however, only 10 individuals belonging to the Nyakagezi gorilla group are habituated and open for tourism in Mgahinga gorilla park.
Mgahinga Gorilla Park has one (01) gorilla group – 08 gorilla permits at USD 600 available for gorilla trekking in Mgahinga.

NYAKAGEZI GORILLA FAMILY IN MGAHINGA GORILLA PARK.
Nyakagezi gorilla group is made up of 10 individual gorillas; 05 silverbacks, 02 adult females, 02 juveniles, and 01 infant who subscribe to the leadership of Silverback Mark. Gorilla Trekking In Mgahinga Gorilla Park has in the past years been unreliable as the mountain gorillas of Mgahinga often travelled across the borders of Uganda into the Democratic Republic of Congo, and or Rwanda – these three countries are the only place in Africa where you can trek Mountain Gorillas – Uganda & Rwanda remain the only Safe place to trek Mountain Gorillas – DR. Congo still has ongoing civil war unrest.
The Good News about Nyakagezi Gorilla group is that the group has for the past six (06) chosen to settle in the Mgahinga gorilla park and no-longer wonder back and forth between border post – they have applied for permanent residence status in the serene Mgahinga Gorilla Park.
There are currently NO other Mountain gorillas undergoing habituation in Mgahinga Gorilla park- however, the presence of 05 Silverbacks in the Nyakagezi gorilla group poses a threat to the leadership of the dominant Silverback Mark – who risks being overthrown – causing a split – We think there is hope Mgahinga will have another Habituated Gorilla Group birthed out of Nyakagezi – As usual, we will keep you posted in the event that our speculations come true.
