Aerolink Caravan 2-1 - flying to Buhoma Region

Flying to Buhoma Region

Flying to Buhoma Region from Entebbe takes about 1.5hours which is a lot quicker than attempting to drive to Buhoma from Entebbe which requires 10hours on the road.

Flying to Buhoma Region is the best/Quickest way of getting to Buhoma for Gorilla trekking and any other activities of interest. The Flight connecting to the Buhoma region lands at Kihihi Airport, where you will meet a uniformed Realm Africa Safaris™ representative to transfer you to a lodge of your choice.

flying to buhoma RegionThere are only two (02) companies operating flying to Buhoma Region from Entebbe or Kajjanzi Airports. Aerolink Uganda (our favorite) operates two (02) daily scheduled flights out of Entebbe International from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airport.

Fly Uganda unlike Aerolink operates daily flights out of Kajjansi Airport (closer to Kampala) to Kihihi Airport. Irrespective of which company you choose to fly with to Kihihi Airport, upon arrival you will need to transfer by road to get to Buhoma Region – there is no Airport nearer than Kihihi except for those that have the ability to lovish on a helicopter flight.

Flying in a helicopter is very expensive – but if you can afford it, it is worthwhile the experience – they will land much more closer to your lodge in Buhoma Region.

The transfer between Kihihi Aiport to Buhoma Region typically lasts 80minutes. the drive from Kihihi to the Buhoma region follows a scenic dirt road (there is hope this will be paved) through the mountainous villages so we recommend keeping your camera handy.

Upon arrival at Buhoma, you will be welcomed by the team at the Lodge of your choice, and you may relax for the entire afternoon or go on a guided community walk, Batwa Pygmy walk, or any other activity of your choice

Best time to Fly to Buhoma Region – Morning or afternoon.

Depending on the time you get here and or what you have scheduled for the day, you have the option to choose between the morning and afternoon flights to Kihihi from Entebbe or Kajjansi Airports.

In our opinion, the morning flights departing at 7:30 am (check-in at 6:30 am) is our favorite flight choice. You get to Buhoma Region much earlier and have ample time to relax at your lodge, unpack your Gorilla trekking gear & clothing, or use the afternoon to see or do an extra activity in Buhoma ahead of your next days Gorilla trekking.
