WHAT ARE THE PROCEDURES OF FLYING A DRONE IN UGANDAN SKIES?

Flying a drone in Uganda must be done by a certified drone pilot. Proper scrutiny of all drone pilot licences is done by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda – CAA  ( they are in-charge of The Ugandan skies). Upon approval of your licence, you will be advised on where to fly your drone. There is just a handful of places CAA has earmarked as NO fly zones. These include State House – Entebbe, Statehouse – Kampala, Entebbe International Airport, and the Presidential Ranch in Gomba – remember, flying over known restricted airspace is an offence.

If you are daring and want to see what the Ugandan law can do. Remember you are on your own. There are often two (02) punishments; If you are lucky you will suffer one (01); the drone will be confiscated for good. Otherwise, if you are unlucky, you will suffer both; you will lose the drone, and also end up in jail – simply do things right and stay out of trouble!
