These special discounts are meant to improve Uganda’s tourist inflow(s) especially in the months of April, May and November in abid to grow the tourism industry of Uganda.

Uganda was voted the best tourist destination by lonely planet and has recorded the highest tourism growth in the whole of Africa in 2012. Tourism has been sighted by the President of Uganda as a sector that will drive the country out of poverty in the next coming years. With this discount on gorilla permits especially in low seasons will not only increase on tourists inflow but will create awareness, tourism earnings for the betterment of the sector.

The above discount should also give Rwanda food for thought as it increased its gorilla permits from US$500.00 to US$750.00. With Uganda having a lot of attractions like the beautiful National Parks, Source of the Nile, Rwenzori and Elgon Mountains, Lake Victoria among others coupled with relative stability, infrastructural development, things seem to be going the positive way.

IS IT WISE TO TREK GORILLAS IN APRIL, MAY AND NOVEMBER?

Discounted gorilla permits in Uganda will always be announced every year for the months of April, May & November  to encourage tourists travel during low season – April, May & November to Uganda. Tourists are encouraged to take advantage of these months -April, May & November as accommodation rates also tend to go down lowering the general price of a gorilla tracking safari. Some tourists have been influenced to think that this discount is only in months when it is raining highly making gorilla trekking a bit tough BUT this is not wholly true as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in a high altitude – 1,160m2,607m above sea level and experiences tropical climate with an annual mean temperature range from a minimum of 7–15°C to a maximum of 20–27°C. Its annual rainfall ranges from 1,400 to 1,900 millimetres (55 to 75 in). Peak rainfall occurs from March to April and from September to November. The park’s forest plays an important role in regulating the outside area’s environment and climate.High amounts of evapo-transpiration from the forest’s vegetation increases the amount of precipitation that the region outside the park receives….an explanation that Bwindi is generally wet all through the year with rains falling every 30-45 mins irrespective of whether its a dry season or wet season.
