Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

The Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary is surely the best place to see Rhinos in Uganda – located approximately 208km/129 miles from Entebbe (180 kilometres/110 miles from Kampala) – a journey that lasts approximately 3½-hours by road.

This sanctuary was set up in 2006 with joint support from the Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority. Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary is currently home to 32 Southern white rhinos. Besides Rhinos, the sanctuary is also home to at least 40 mammal and reptilian species including monkeys, antelopes, hippopotamuses, crocodiles and numerous bird species – which make for a varied wildlife viewing experience.
