ITINERARY – DAY BY DAY – 14 DAYS UGANDA SAFARI


DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN UGANDA.

Today you arrive in Uganda, through Entebbe International airport where you will be met by a representative of Realm Africa Safaris™ will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. Drive Time: 10 minutes from Entebbe Airport.

Accommodation: Karibu Guesthouse in Entebbe.Meal plan: Breakfast Only.


 

DAY 02: TRANSFER TO ZZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY

Breakfast at Karibu Guesthouse where you will have spent your previous night; thereafter your will check out with all your belongings and drive to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary – home to Uganda’s only surviving white Rhinos. Lunch at the Amuka Safari Lodge. Enjoy the afternoon by the pool.

Drive Time: 3½ – 4 hours. | Accommodation: Amuka Safari lodge. |  Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Amuka Lodge is an upmarket safari lodge situated in the wilderness of the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The lodge has a small pool for clients to dip in and cool off. The chalets (rooms) each are complete with large, personal verandas where visitors can lounge on safari chairs and take in the serenity of the surroundings. All chalets are tucked into the woodlands which provide complete privacy & seclusion – a True wilderness safari lodging experience!


 

DAY 03: MORNING RHINO TRACKING & TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK.

Breakfast; thereafter your guide will transfer you to the reception for a ranger briefing about Rhino tracking. Remember to dress appropriately in good trekking shoes, long shirt, trousers, and also carry a waterproof jacket in case it rains. A well-charged camera might be handy if you are keen on taking home with you some photographic memories of having tracked the white rhinos in Uganda. Return to the lodge and freshen up, relax and enjoy an early lunch (11:30 am) – thereafter check out and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Drive to the top of the falls when you will take on a self-guided walk on the well-signed single-way Bakers trail that leads you down to where you private boat captain will be waiting to take you on a private boat safari that ends at your Lodge.

Drive Time: 03 hours.  | Accommodation: Murchison River LodgeMeal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Murchison River Lodge is located by the river offering both cottages and tented accommodation. Our first recommendation is the riverside tents that are self-contained and are by the river bank affording spectacular views of both the river and the horizon. Alternatively, we could upgrade you to the Cottages for EXTRA but it is important to understand that the cottages are Not by the river but do afford good comfort too.


 

DAY 04: GAME DRIVE IN MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK.

Early Breakfast (06:00 am); Thereafter depart for the first scheduled ferry crossing from the South to the Northern bank of Murchison Falls National park – Murchison falls NP is divided into two (02) by the Nile River. All game drives in Murchison falls National park are on the Northern bank which is open savannah grassland affording big elephant herds, buffaloes, Kobs, Jacksons heartbeests, giraffe, lions and if chanced leopards that roam the park. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.

DAY 05: TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK.

Breakfast; thereafter checkout with a packed lunch, and all your belongings and embark on the drive to Kibale National Park – home to 13 Primates including chimpanzees. Arrive in the afternoon in time for check-in at your Lodge.

Drive time: 6 – 7 hours. | Accommodation: Crater Safari lodge.  | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch (packed) & Dinner at the Lodge.

Crater Safari Lodge overlooks the beautiful Nyinabulitwa Crater Lake. The lodge offers deluxe cottage accommodation with each cottage seated On an individual wooden deck and covered by thatch on the roof. The bathrooms have two working taps (cold & hot) for you to enjoy a warm bath. Crater Safari lodge is located approximately 13Km/ 15 – 20minutes drive (well-paved road) from Kibale Forest National park where you will be going chimp trekking the Next day.


 

DAY 06: CHIMP TREKKING IN KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK.

Breakfast; thereafter you will transfer to Kibale Forest NP for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking.

  • What to wear:  good waterproof studded trekking boots, long sleeved shirt, trousers, and a rain jacket.
  • What to Bring: A camera, extra charged battery, Extra memory card,  binoculars, and a waterproof back to protect them in case of rain.

Return to your Lodge for Lunch and a siesta – enjoy the lodge views and surrounding.

Accommodation: Crater Safari lodge.  | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

DAY 07: TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK.

Breakfast; thereafter check out of the lodge with all your belongings, and embark on the drive to Queen Elizabeth NP arriving on time for check-in, and lunch at your lodge.

After lunch, transfer to Mweya Peninsular for a scheduled boat safari on the famous Kazinga channel – a 40km natural channel, and a habitat of over 8 mammals, and lots Of birds. Bring your camera with you.

After your 02-hour boat safari, you will enjoy an en route game drive that ends at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Kasenyi safari camp.

Accommodation: Kasenyi Safari camp.   | Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Kasenyi Safari camp is located on the rim of  Bunympaka salt crater lake. The camp has an elevated dining structure that is meticulously thatched. The tents are on platforms with a thatched canopy roof. There are four tents all with en-suite bathrooms, spacious living areas, and private decks. Many animals frequent the camp during the day & at night. Lion prides, hippo, leopard, buffalo, elephant, waterbuck, kob, hyena and warthog are frequently seen. The night comes alive with sounds of hyenas howling and lions roaring.


 

DAY 08: MORNING GAME DRIVE + TRANSFER TO ISHASHA SECTOR.

Coffee ar tea; thereafter go on a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains in search of wildlife. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast and thereafter check out of the lodge with all your belongings and embark on the drive to Ishasha Wilderness camp. Enjoy an evening game drive in search of tree climbing lions. Dinner and Overnight at the camp.

Ishasha Wilderness Camp is situated within the Southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park on the Ntungwe river, an idyllic retreat for people who truly enjoy the wilderness. This exclusive camp offers superb quality accommodation and services in this unspoiled remote sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for its tree climbing lions that can sometimes be spotted resting in the branches of the large fig trees in the area. Being within the park the wildlife is free to also pass through the camp and elephants can be seen bathing in the river, buffalo enjoy grazing and resident troops of Black-and-White Colobus and vervet monkeys are frequently viewed.


 

DAY 09: MORNING GAME DRIVE + TRANSFER TO BWINDI FOREST.

Early Coffee or tea; thereafter go on a morning game drive through the park with a stop for a bush breakfast. After which you will head back to lodge to pick up your luggage and head out for Bwindi forest NP arriving on time for check-in and Lunch at Engagi Lodge. Afternoon at leisure as you prepare for tomorrows gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest – probably the highlight for all persons on this tour!.

Engagi Lodge is located in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Forest NP. this lodge borders the park and affords its clients an incomparable view Of the forest in which the mountain gorillas live. Because of its close proximity to the Forest, there have been moments when the gorillas have visited this lodge – one of the reasons we Like to stay here!. The rooms at Engagi lodge are all en-suite and all enjoy a private uninterrupted view of the forest.


 

DAY 10: GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI FOREST NP.

Today is the big day… Prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare Mountain Gorilla. For most people, this is the absolute highlight of their tour in Uganda. Your driver-guide will pick you up 7:00 am from the lodge. He/she will transfer you to the starting point of the gorilla tracking. He/she will wait for you and bring you back to the lodge when finished. Don’t’ forget to carry your passport (original)

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts both Mountain Gorillas and wild Chimpanzees – the only forest in Africa which can make this claim in fact. It also hosts five (05) other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies and 360 birds.

The Gorillas you will track belong to one of fifteen (15) habituated family groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. Your trek will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the Gorillas’ habitat. En-route, your guide will point out signs of previous Gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots.

The time taken to track the Gorillas can take as little as 02 hours to as much as 07 hours before one returns! Once the Gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a Mountain Gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.

DAY 11: TRANSFER TO KAMPALA

Breakfast; thereafter with all your belongings check out of the lodge and embark on a drive Kampala capital city with a stop at the Equator for photography. Lunch Enroute.

Accommodation: Cassia lodge.

Meal Plan: Breakfast Only.

Cassia Lodge is one Of Kampala finest accommodation. This boutique style lodge boasts of the best panoramic view Of Kampala with the great Lake Victoria in the background. The rooms at Cassia Lodge are all en-suite and each with a Private balcony overlooking the Lake Victoria. The Restaurant at this Lodge is also known for good food – you will attest to this during your stay.

Special Note: While most of The accommodation on this tour Includes meals, Cassia Lodge is STRICTLY bed & Breakfast – you cater for EXTRAS.


DAY 12: KAMPALA CITY TOUR WITH CHANGING HORIZONS

Breakfast; thereafter checkout with all your belongings, and your driver guide will transfer you to the start point of your guided walking city tour with changing horizons. You will spend the whole day on this tour visiting the sights in Kampala accompanied by a local guide who will tell you all about the sites you are visiting. Note: The Price of this city tour with Changing Horizons includes lunch, all drinks etc.

DAY 13: WHITEWATER RAFTING ON THE NILE.

Breakfast; transfer to the briefing point of your Full Day Rafting experience on the mighty River Nile – Expect up to Grade 5 rapids with a highly qualified rafting team guiding you through this experience – NO swimming experience needed!. You will spend the whole day on the river with a Picnic lunch comprised of snacks, fruit, and juices which will be served on an island en route. At the end of the rafting, all rafters will enjoy a complimentary drink and barbeque after conquering the Nile Rapids – Hurray you did it!. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 14: TRANSFER TO ENTEBBE.

Breakfast at leisure and by 11:00 am be ready to checkout with all your belongings and get transfered  Entebbe ahead of your flight back home.
