The procedure of Obtaining a filming permit in Uganda


An official letter (on headed paper if applying as a production company) introducing your company/ yourself, your intended film project in Uganda, intended filming location in Uganda, Duration of Film shooting, and just don’t forget to mention how this film will benefit Uganda.

Attach passport details and photos of each crew member, and mention their role (for example; Kenneth Powel – Film Director……..). After all, this is done, forward both the letter and the film crew details to Realm Africa Safaris™ and will hand-deliver your application to the Uganda Media Council Offices in Kampala for Press Accreditation, and Media Card Approvals. Press Accreditation valid for 01 Months will cost USD175 or USD225 for one valid 06 Months.


Press Accreditation & Media Card issuances are completely at the discretion of the Uganda Media Council.


Considering that all is well and the Uganda Media Council has approved you to Film In Uganda, then you Will have to write another letter addressed to the Uganda wildlife Authority seeking for permission to Film Mongoose in Queen Elizabeth National Park. In this letter, you will be required to mention the number of crew members, and the number Of days you intended to spend filming Banded Mongoose In Queen Elizabeth Park. It is this information that Uganda Wildlife Authority – UWA will then utilize to draft a memorandum – MOU, and or a Film Contract indicating the regulations of your Banded Mongoose Filming In Queen Elizabeth Park. An invoice stating the price of a Banded mongoose filming permit for your crew will be Sent to Realm Africa Safaris™ which we will in turn forward to you For payment to be made to UWA.
